The University of Houston is offering two teacher workshops to prepare for the upcoming 2014 Mars Rover Celebration. The first workshop, held on the 21st, will cover the basics of Mars science, and will include detailed information about past and present Rovers/Missions to Mars. The latest results from the Curiosity mission will be presented, as well as methods for making classroom use of realtime results.
The second workshop, held on the 28th, will be split into two sections. The morning session will cover details of the celebration, newly revised materials, and proven methodologies for supervising the projects (including the construction of a model rover). The afternoon sessions covers specifics of teaching and implementing a Mars curricula, including information on assessments and literacy lessons. Participating teachers will receive copies of all materials and one solar model kit.
